Planned to wax poems
                  here on Kauai, but
                  words vanished
                  like rainbows flashing a breaker's curve.

Planned to still me
                  here on Kauai, but
                  only once, above the valley of secrets
                  and once, under the ironwood
                                  near the kapu monument
                  all the other hours were a constant
                                                           drizzle
                                                           unstill.

Planned to flow chi
                  here on Kauai, but
                  four star moon evening spins,
                  punctuated in cough,
