Firebird

Under the mountain king's palace
bird cages swing in dark chambers.

But in flashing forest -
                         free flashing fresh fancy:
                 grand parade of light
                         ornaments the autumn afternoon.

                         Lark on a bare pine.

Mountain king stomps forth
burst a door     pop a cork
                 rattle sky          slam the earth

                         Now!  Now!

Sombre spruce paints spiral shadow
                  over      long      sweet      deep      day.
                         spin      long         soft       sleep.

On a clear blue cliff,
New sun pulls red, pulls gold dawn.

                                  Spans a chasm,

                                                quickens earth.

                  Strong bells        bright!

Hrurr-City

HRurrRH-city
        All-directioned drone

sharply wanting at every street corner
must MUSTing for a dollar, a smoke, some
                sleepslosh

Some joy to drum and greyboogie on Market St.
        Some cram and urge unleashed,
                spurred on by Hermez girls
                                in their billboard spikes

Some dull and muffled goneconscious   ness
                wrapt in grimesack
                mopt hair akimbo
                slept in unease shadows
                slept for 13 peaceful moments

        'til raucous dawn clatterd in
                awoke the restless want

(sore kneed stumbled; peed in alley)

        skritchd a burning thirst for
                some sweet peace
                in calamitous hell.

PLEASE, a dollar! If not, frick'n die!

        Not dying, city revolves ever.

Fruit

The plum, the fig, the peach
        infusedin the grapes of my
                        heartblood,

rounding an arc of content
        dis integrating particles of
        dis integrated earth
                        and sweetsun's dew.

The sweetsweatfarmer's        kindness
                        dissolving into
soft jams of shit in my
                        guttunnel.

Thanksto     the orchardists.
Thanksto     the buzzbees.
Thanksto     the claygranite.
Thanksto     the starfire.
Thanksto     the liquid.
Thanksto     the leatherhands.
Thanksto     the exhaustion.
Thanksto     the stockingwell.
Thanksto     the pickingpack stowestack.
Thanksto     the tall Latino.
Thanksto     the un numbered more,

        my bonebag thrives another day.
                    Shanti!

Ravens

And I find myself crouching at noon beneath one fir towering up past the bright green bigleaf maple. While from the canopy a raucous rasp of teen ravenous ravens demand notice. The rain clatters all about, tapping bigleafs, smacking fallen arbutus husks, blotched with yellow. And Raven, the grown, annoints the forest with his unexpected clever clucks and sonorous thralls.

Ig

It's oily down
     the  overing sludge,
     the heave of dull,
     thick dark clouds

                               sinking.
